Priya Pai

Co-editor

I am a writer. That is the simple way to describe me. I mean, I COULD say that I'm a person who loves winter and Santa Claus and candles and John Mayer and the way books smell and rain and The Office and F. Scott Fitzgerald and poetry and education and female empowerment. I mean, I COULD say that one day I would like to write a book about people and I would like to live in Seattle because it's perpetual writing weather there and I would like to study English/Literature and Chemistry (because I think atoms are pretty cool) in college. I mean, I COULD say that I'm a person eternally grateful to my parents because they are the most selfless people in the world. I mean, I COULD say a lot of things about myself. But I think the term that describes me most is that I'm a writer. That word says more about me than any other word or phrase is able to. I am a writer.

Patrick Paguio

Reporter

Well, what can I say? I am a junior, I am a Whovian (that means a Doctor Who fan), I am a Netflix binge watcher, but most of all: I am a writer.

It all began when I joined the Kempner News Club. Truthfully, it has been a dream of mine to showcase my journalistic skills to some of the most exciting stories about KHS, and even in the world of entertainment and technology. To report about the new TV shows that everyone is excited about, to write reviews about new gadgets hitting those shelves, and to interview Kempner students and teachers for a spotlight—this is a true mark of inception for me as a columnist. I have countless things left to learn and experience. After all, journalism is part of who I am and will always be part of who I am for the rest of my life.

Mrs. Thomas-Earls

Sponsor

Mrs. Thomas-Earls has been teaching for 12 years. She just completed ten years at KHS as the teacher of all journalism courses. She began her journalism career as a freshman on her high school newspaper and has been writing ever since. She continued her passion for journalism at Sam Houston University as a writer then sports editor of the newspaper. Two weeks after graduating she got her first professional job as a sports editor at a daily newspaper in McKinney, TX. She has also freelanced for newspapers in Ohio and across Texas. Mrs. Earls also enjoys traveling, attending concerts and sporting events. What she enjoys most is spending time with her eight year old daughter Breianna. She hopes all her students take advantages of the opportunities they have been given because life is too precious not to.
